Fear Less, Play more

Rugby as a sport has long been traditionally dominated by men. Shot for Getty Images with a focus on Women in Sport, the series focuses on the importance in highlighting the move towards more inclusive spaces for women.

The project was briefed to London-based photographer Holly Falconer. We wanted to document the team members training to capture some of the pivotal moments of joy, pain and friendship that might go unnoticed during a match. After the match portraits were taken with individual team members just as they were, straight after the session and isolated in front of a colorama.The images demonstrate the power of friendships and shared goals and are a wonderful testimony to the wealth of strength women radiate both mentally and physically.

The aim of this series was not only to create empowering images of females in sport, but also to produce tangible concepts of gender equality, inclusion, and diversity.
